Don't Make A Wrong Into A Right:

When I was at the Japanese confectioners, the other day, I asked for a particular item and I noticed the name is misspelled. When I asked, they said, "No, that is right." This manju is called "suhama" but somewhere along the line, someone didn't know the correct pronounciation and now it is called, "su-ama," of which there is no such thing. . . .. Now everyone will learn the wrong name for it.

In a modern Japanese publication for young people, they are always talking about Japanese Americans, civil rights, etc. A popular topic of discussion are Japanese of mixed parentage who are called "happa." However, someone mispronounced it and now everyone thinks it is "hapa," which is incorrect. Now, because of someone's mistake, everyone is making the same mistake these days. . . . . Such oversights cause them to lose credibility.

I see this happen a lot in Aikido too. . . .
