Dojo & Dojo Chores:

Nowadays, everything is getting set back because of everyone's busy schedule so much of the chores are not getting done. Attendance and other paperwork has not been done for months. Nowadays, we cannot even clean the front of the dojo before class. This is always an important tradition of the Dojo, it is not only to clean the dojo but it is ritual purification and part of the spiritual aspect of the Dojo. When we just look at such things as mere menial tasks, and we forget their inner meaning and the long tradition behind them, we begin to forget the meaning of the Dojo and soon we forget what the Dojo is about all together. Soon the dojo becomes just another "facility" or gym. . . . This is how wisdom, knowledge and traditions are lost.

Students come and go so easily. . . . not realizing all the sacrifices made in their behalf to provide Aikido for them. This always makes me so sad. . . . Can we keep up such traditions in a modern age as ours, when we are so busy and our plates are so full? More and more, I think it is very hard. Times are changing. . . .
